SEUSSICAL-THEATRE YOUNG AUDIENCES ST THOMAS MORE PREPERATORY SCHOOL 3/8-3/9/2013
Now one of the most performed shows in America, SEUSSICAL is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (LUCKY STIFF, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, and RAGTIME) have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination--Jojo. "Oh, the Thinks You Will Think" as the spirit of imagination transports the colorful characters from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. For this version, certain plot elements have been simplified, it is in one act, and runs approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes - perfect for presentation in schools. (See ADDITIONAL FACTS below for details) The story centers around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry. For complete information on this

THE PRODUCERS NEW CANDLELIGHT DINNER THEATRE 1/25-3/21/2013
Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks' classic cult comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, THE PRODUCERS
once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face
humor. It is a truly "boffo" hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards
and wowing capacity crowds night after night.
The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his
mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most
notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all "little old
ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show
is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they
maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously
offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money
and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad
comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a
poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.
With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks
and Thomas Meehan
(ANNIE) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks
, THE PRODUCERS skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an "equal opportunity offender!"
